Products Description of Siloxanes

Siloxanes are a class of compounds containing Si–O–Si bonds. They can be divided into chain-type and cyclic structures. The general formula of chain siloxanes is SinOn−1H2n+2, with the structural form H(SiH2–O)xSiH3.

When n = 2, the compound is ethoxysiloxane (SiH3–O–SiH3); when n = 3, it is propoxysiloxane (SiH3–O–SiH2–O–SiH3). Cyclic siloxanes have the general formula (H2SiO)n, and when n = 4, the structure is cyclobutyric siloxane, (H2SiO)4.

Halogen-substituted derivatives are referred to as halogenated siloxanes, while alkyl-substituted derivatives are known as organosiloxanes, commonly called silicones.

Product Application of Polysiloxanes

Polysiloxanes are widely used across various industries. Their liquid forms are commonly applied as defoaming agents, hydrophobic finishing agents for fibers, surfactants, lubricants, vacuum greases, and heating oil bath media.

Resin-type polysiloxanes are used in varnishes, paints, release agents, adhesives, and insulating materials. Elastomer forms are applied in sealing materials, electrical insulation components, gaskets, and tubing.

In addition, polysiloxanes are also used in the medical field, including applications such as artificial heart valves, pacemakers, contact lenses, and plasma bottle coatings.
