Product Description
Diacetone acrylamide features two reactive groups: N-substituted amide and ketone, making it highly versatile in polymer chemistry. It readily copolymerizes with ethylene and other monomers, introducing ketocarbonyl groups into polymers. These ketocarbonyl groups enable crosslinking and grafting reactions, allowing the preparation of adhesives, thickeners, paper reinforcing agents, crosslinking agents, and more. Diacetone acrylamide is widely applied in coatings, adhesives, daily chemicals, epoxy resin curing agents, photosensitive resin additives, textile additives, and medical and healthcare products.

Product Application
Diacetone acrylamide is an important vinyl monomer. Its homopolymer is insoluble in water but exhibits unique “water-breathing” properties, with a water absorption capacity of 20–25% of the resin’s weight. When ambient humidity drops below 60%, the absorbed water is released, acting as a natural plasticizer for the polymer. This distinctive property enables a wide range of applications:
1.Moisture-Resistant Hair Perm Resin
Used in Japan for hair perm resins with excellent moisture resistance, allowing hairstyles to maintain shape for extended periods without deformation from rain or washing.
2.Photosensitive Resin
Serves as a component in photosensitive resin formulations, providing:
Fast photosensitivity
Easy removal of non-image areas after exposure to produce clear images
Layouts with high strength, solvent resistance, and water resistance
Additionally, it can be used as a crosslinking agent for unsaturated polyester resins, diallyl phthalate, and as a curing agent for epoxy resins. Its applications extend to “water-breathing” resins (e.g., contact lenses, anti-fogging glass, marine coatings), pressure-sensitive adhesives, adhesive modifiers, non-woven fabric adhesives, water-absorbent films, leather finishing agents, paper strength enhancers, antistatic polymers, and inks.
