Product Description
Sodium sulfate (Na₂SO₄), also known as thenardite or salt cake, is a crystalline compound with a melting point of 888°C (1632°F). Naturally occurring as thenardite in regions such as Chile and Spain, it is widely used in the production of paperboard, glass, and freezing mixtures.
The hydrated form, Na₂SO₄·10H₂O, commonly called "Glauber’s salt," is a stable, white, water-soluble compound obtained by heating sodium chloride with sulfuric acid. It finds applications in dyeing, glass manufacturing, and the production of sodium bisulfate.

Sodium sulfate is widely used as a filler in synthetic detergents. In the paper industry, it serves as a cooking agent in the production of sulfate pulp. The glass industry uses it as a substitute for soda, while the chemical industry employs it as a raw material for producing sodium sulfide, sodium silicate, and other chemical products. In the textile industry, it is applied in the preparation of Vinylon spinning coagulation baths. The pharmaceutical industry utilizes it as a laxative. Additionally, sodium sulfate finds applications in non-ferrous metallurgy and leather processing.
