LABSA is an anionic surfactant made up of molecules containing both hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments. It is a nonvolatile substance produced via the sulfonation process, which utilizes reagents such as sulfuric acid, chlorosulfonic acid, sulfamic acid, and diluted sulfur trioxide.

Industrial Applications
LABSA functions as a wetting agent and emulsifier for agricultural herbicides, and is also used in emulsion polymerization. Surfactants, in general, are widely applied across industries to improve interactions between polar and non-polar substances, enabling efficient mixing of oil with water or water with minerals.
LABSA is an essential ingredient in the manufacture of laundry detergents, cleaning powders, detergent cakes, liquid soaps, oil soaps, scouring bars, and various anionic specialty products. In the textile industry, it serves as a washing and mercerizing agent. Furthermore, LABSA is used in small amounts as a wetting agent or emulsifier, often combined with other surfactants, for the production of foaming toilet soaps.
