Product Description
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is a type of linear polyethylene with a molecular weight ranging from 1.5 million to over 7 million. As a specialized form of thermoplastic polyethylene, it is also known as high-modulus polyethylene.
UHMWPE is approximately 15 times stronger than ordinary steel and offers outstanding wear resistance, self-lubricating properties, and impact resistance. Its extremely long molecular chains enhance intermolecular interactions and enable more efficient load transfer to the polymer backbone, resulting in exceptional toughness and the highest impact strength among all thermoplastic materials.
Due to its unique combination of being lightweight yet extremely strong—often described as "paper-thin but steel-hard"—UHMWPE is recognized as one of the three major high-performance fibers.

Key Superior Properties
Outstanding Wear Resistance: UHMWPE offers superior abrasion resistance compared with other plastics, with wear performance several to dozens of times higher than ordinary carbon steel and significantly better than conventional polyethylene.
Exceptional Impact Resistance: It provides excellent shock absorption capability and outstanding impact resistance, surpassing that of carbon fiber and aramid fiber materials.
High Specific Strength and Lightweight Characteristics: As a high-performance fiber material, UHMWPE features an excellent strength-to-weight ratio combined with low density, delivering strong performance while remaining lightweight.
Excellent Chemical Stability: UHMWPE demonstrates outstanding chemical inertness and can resist almost all strong acids, strong alkalis, and organic solvents, except for strong oxidizing acids.
Self-Lubricating and Biocompatible Properties: With an extremely low coefficient of friction, UHMWPE is self-lubricating, non-toxic, odorless, and offers excellent biocompatibility.
Wide Range of Applications
Defense and Aerospace: With excellent ballistic protection performance and lightweight characteristics, UHMWPE is widely used in the production of personal protective equipment, including body armor, bulletproof helmets, bulletproof plates, armor components, and marine engineering cables.
Biomedical Applications: Thanks to its outstanding biocompatibility and creep resistance, UHMWPE is mainly applied in the manufacturing of artificial joints, dental materials, medical sutures, and sports medicine implants.
Industrial Manufacturing: Leveraging its excellent wear resistance and low friction properties, UHMWPE is used for producing conveyor belt rollers, mechanical bearings, wear-resistant liners for mining dump trucks, bushings, and other industrial components.
New Energy and Specialty Materials: UHMWPE plays an important role in new energy applications, particularly in the production of lithium-ion battery separators and other advanced specialty materials.
