Product Description

Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), with the chemical formula C₁₂H₂₅NaO₄S, is a highly effective anionic surfactant that is readily soluble in water. It is widely recognized for its excellent emulsifying, foaming, and wetting properties.

SDS appears as a white crystalline powder and is extensively used in the formulation of detergents, cleaning products, and personal care items. It also plays a key role in biochemical applications, particularly as a denaturing agent in protein electrophoresis.

The product has a molecular weight of approximately 288.4 g/mol, high water solubility, a critical micelle concentration (CMC) of around 8 mM, and a melting point above 200°C.

For optimal stability, it should be stored in tightly sealed containers, protected from light and moisture, and maintained at 2–8°C. Due to its potential to cause irritation, appropriate safety precautions and protective equipment should be used during handling.
