Products Description
Polysulfone, also known as bisphenol A-based polysulfone, is a transparent linear thermoplastic engineering plastic with a slightly amber appearance. It has a relative density of 1.24 and features excellent dimensional stability, outstanding resistance to boiling water and superheated steam, good mechanical performance, and superior dielectric properties.
Polysulfone also exhibits good chemical resistance, flame-retardant properties, and non-toxic characteristics. However, its weatherability and UV resistance are relatively limited. The term polysulfone generally refers to polymers containing sulfone groups (—SO₂—). As an engineering plastic, polysulfone specifically contains structural segments in which aromatic nuclei (benzene rings) are connected through sulfone bonds.

Properties
Excellent Heat and Oxidation Resistance Polysulfone demonstrates outstanding heat and oxidation resistance, supporting long‑term service at temperatures ranging from -100 to 150°C. It features a heat distortion temperature of 174°C, maintaining stable overall performance even under prolonged high‑temperature exposure.
High Mechanical Strength and Excellent Electrical Performance Polysulfone delivers high mechanical strength and rigidity, with superior creep resistance compared to polycarbonate and mechanical properties comparable to polyphenylene ether. It retains stable dielectric properties under humid, water‑contact conditions and at temperatures up to 190°C. No obvious changes in appearance, rigidity or electrical performance are observed after 200 hours of 10⁸ X-ray irradiation.
Good Chemical Stability and Resistance Polysulfone possesses reliable chemical stability, resisting most acids, alkalis, alcohols and aliphatic hydrocarbons, excluding concentrated nitric acid and sulfuric acid. It may swell or partially dissolve in esters and ketones, and is soluble in chlorinated hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons.
Excellent Dimensional Stability and Processing Performance Polysulfone boasts exceptional dimensional stability, with a dimensional change rate below 0.1% after one‑month storage under 50% humidity. It features flexible processability and can be processed via injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, thermoforming and other mature molding methods.
Material Limitations Polysulfone has certain application limitations, including poor weather resistance and UV resistance, limited tolerance to partial organic solvents, and incompatibility with long‑term service in boiling water environments.
Product Applications
Polysulfone is extensively applied in the manufacturing of heat-resistant components, high-temperature structural parts, corrosion-resistant accessories and electrical insulation materials. It is highly suitable for scenarios requiring high strength, low creep performance, high temperature resistance and precise dimensional tolerance control.
Its typical application fields cover aerospace heat-resistant components, automotive structural parts, gears, cams, electronic contacts, computer electronic components, television accessories and printed circuit board materials. It is also widely processed into industrial films, coatings, sheets, pipes, pump housings and various other industrial finished products.
