Product Application
Dipentene acts as a solvent for enamels and lacquers, alongside various oil‑based resins, resin waxes and metal driers. It is also utilized in the production of synthetic resins and synthetic rubbers. Furthermore, it may be incorporated into fragrance blends such as orange blossom essence and citrus oil essence, serving as a viable replacement for lemon essential oil.
Limonene yields carvone via selective oxidation. When treated with inorganic acids, it hydrolyzes to form α‑terpineol and hydrated terpene diols. With platinum‑supported catalysts, the substance can be hydrogenated to paraffins or dehydrogenated to produce para‑cymene.
It can also be employed as an oil dispersant, rubber additive and wetting agent.
