Product Description

Carbon Black is a finely divided form of carbon, which may ignite explosively if suspended in air near an ignition source, or undergo spontaneous combustion upon contact with water. It is toxic if inhaled, with a threshold limit value (TLV) of 3.5 mg/m³ in air.

Carbon Black CAS#1333-86-4

Primary Uses

Rubber Industry: Used as a reinforcing filler in tires, belt covers, hoses, industrial rubber products, and conveyor belts. It enhances tensile strength, abrasion resistance, elongation, and tear resistance in vulcanized rubber. Suitable for natural rubber-based large-scale tires, off-road tires, and tire sidewalls.

Paints, Inks, and Plastics: Acts as a coloring pigment for paints, inks, plastics, shoe polish, leather coatings, colored cement, and paint cloth. Also used in black paper, carbon paper, and typewriter ribbons for darker colors.

Food Applications: Edible black pigment for pastries (0.001%–0.1%) and as a food coloring agent for rice, flour products, candy, biscuits, and pastries (maximum usage 5.0 g/kg in China).

Electronics and Batteries: Used as a conductive agent in lithium-ion batteries, electrodes, and anti-static rubber products.

Other Applications: Applied in metallurgy, rocket propellants, phonograph records, and as a solar-energy absorber.
